Trek Transponders prior to June 2026 operate with a low cost and fast 4G SMS/MMS system. This allows you to operate your Trek Transponder with any ordinary mobile phone. Now there is an exciting new option.

Trek Transponders ordered from June 2026 can be still be specified as legacy SMS/MMS version, requiring no extra software or App as always. You can use a standard mobile phone to monitor your boat. (MMS depends on local Telco).

Whats new is Trek Transponders ordered from June 2026 can be specified as Real Time Vessel Monitoring (RTVM) version which includes an Android App. IOS available in September. This is a very fast combination which allows you to monitor your vessel, cameras and control relays within Australia and globally. This requires Trek Transponder to provide 24/7 network access which is $12 per month. (Cost of a coffee in Sydney). Trek Transponder chose AWS as its provider since they now state 99.9% up time and over the last 12 months have far exceeded that.

Trek Transponders manufactured prior to June 2026 can be upgraded to use Real Time Vessel Monitoring (RTVM) with a $105 kit. When you order this you will get a Dongle to upgrade your Trek to App version. No need to return your Trek. Plug in the Dongle and press a button. Same for IOS. We will also email the Android App to you with instructions how to install it on your phone and a $12 per month debit form to cover the Internet access fees.  IOS App due in September. The App will link you to your Trek globally, no need to worry about local Telco SMS/MMS settings. All you need is data. if you have multiple Treks you only need one RTVM set for all.  (The lead time has gone out to 3 weeks, we sold the first x25 immediately). • Very fast camera images from boat – and allows unlimited streaming of snaps from your cameras on board and logging of images
• Selectable display symbols for example battery volts can be displayed as analog meters, digital or mixed, entry points can be hatches or doors etc
• Some control buttons available directly on phone screen – no need to open SMS App or RTVM App. to tap the button – just one tap when you unlock your phone
• Selectable logging item and interval. You can log your shore power on time, where the boat has been, security, and solar and battery voltage history
