Most boat owners only think about their bilge pump when they hear it running.

The problem is that if you’re not on board, you never hear it.

Your boat could be quietly taking on water for days or even weeks while the bilge pump works harder and harder to keep it afloat.

By the time someone notices the problem, the batteries may be flat, the pump may have failed, or the vessel may already be flooded.

A Bilge Pump Monitor changes that.

The Trek Bilge Pump Operations Counter continuously monitors every time your electric bilge pump starts.

Unlike current sensors that require cutting wiring, the Trek sensor is completely non-contact.

It simply attaches to the bilge pump or its cable and detects the tiny electromagnetic field produced whenever the motor runs. It works with 12V, 24V and 48V electric bilge pumps.

You can see:

  • Number of pump operations
  • Total pump running time
  • Overall vessel status
  • Battery condition

If the pump suddenly begins operating far more often than normal, you know something needs investigating before it becomes an emergency.

Trek Transponders Bilge Pump Monitor is a vital contact-less sensor which senses each operation of a vessels Bilge Pump to alert the vessel owner/operator if this operation is excessive.

A vessel may be afloat simply because its Bilge Pump is working hard and soon may fail. If the bilge of your vessel is dry each time you check you may never know of this danger.

The Bilge Pump Monitor senses how many times the pump operates and  also records the total length of time it is running. You can check this any time with your mobile phone.

Excess Bilge Pump operations may indicate a serious leak below the water line.

The Bilge Pump Monitor can be affixed to the top or side of most 12V, 24V or 48V electric bilge pumps or cable tied to its electrical cabling. The sensor detects the pump turning on by detecting its tiny radiated EMF. It is usually wired to the vessels Trek Transponder,

In the example SMS PIR1 of the boats Trek Transponder has been configured as a Bilge Pump Monitor named PumpOps1 and results are included in the Status report. The bilge pump in the example has operated 5 times and for a total of 24 minutes since the count was last reset. This boat has a risky leak problem. Battery 1 is also losing charge because of the excess pump operation. Without a Trek Transponder and Bilge Pump Monitor you may be totally unaware of this looming problem.

The output of the Bilge Pump Monitor is an N.C. contact and power supply can be 6V – 30V so the Bilge Pump Monitor can be connected to other systems.
