Mini Reed Switch for Doors, Hatches

Description

This Mini Reed Switch is commonly used to detect hatches and doors opening. It has other uses such as monitoring a tarp or boat cover being removed. This switch can be directly connected to any of the security inputs of the Trek Transponder.

It consists of two parts, a magnet enclosed in plastic case and a magnetically operated reed switch also contained in a plastic case with two wires for connection. When the two parts are adjacent  the magnetically operated reed switch is closed circuit (usually meaning door is closed/hatch is closed/boat cover is on) and when  they move apart the magnetically operated reed switch goes open circuit triggering the Trek Transponder alarm sending you an SMS.

Commonly the magnet side of the switch is glued or screwed to an access point of the boat that will move if an intruder tries to gain access and the switch side is glued or screwed to the door frame. In the case of a tarp or boat cover the magnet side of the switch is glued or stitched into the lining of the boat cover where it is immediately adjacent to the magnetically operated reed switch mounted on the deck. Such that if the door/hatch or boat cover is moved open the magnet side of the switch moves away from the magnetically operated reed switch and the alarm is triggered and  you get an SMS that someone is tampering with your boat.
